Cornerstone Engineering, Inc. is an Engineering Consulting firm, founded in 2003, with offices in Louisville, Kentucky and Indianapolis, Indiana. The Principal, Mr. Chella Subram has over twenty years of experience and currently serves as President of the Structural Engineers Association of Kentucky (SEAOK). Our Team is comprised of a diverse group of well-experienced yet creative, talented and focused Engineers, Designers, Drafters and Support Staff with over 60 years of experience. We are committed to accomplishing projects with excellence and integrity.
Cornerstone Engineering is prepared to provide the project management necessary in addition to accomplishing a successful project design. With our team of sub-consultants, we are able to provide management and consulting in architecture and engineering, including structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines. Cornerstone served as project managers for the design of the 35,000 ft2 Abundant Life Bible School facility. CEI has also provided consulting and management services for the repair of the Louisville Water Company’s (LWC) Allmond Avenue Storage Facility, an existing preengineered steel building. Cornerstone has also been project managers during both the design and construction phases of the repair and strengthening of multiple parking garages.
Our list of recently completed design projects includes the Louisville Water Company’s Sodium Hypochlorite Building, a new laboratory building at Metropolitan Sewer District’s Morris-Foreman Wastewater Treatment Plant, and facilities expansions at the Naval Operations Support Center in Birmingham, Alabama. In addition, we are currently the Structural Inspector of Record (S.I.R.) on the Louisville Downtown Arena ($238 million). We have also been the S.I.R. on recent projects including the University of Louisville Bio-Medical Building ($140 million), the Norton Brownsboro Hospital ($146 million), as well as multiple primary and secondary schools in Kentucky.
Our relationships with our clients have grown based on mutual respect and benefit. We have successfully completed assignments in a variety of public and private sectors including government, commercial, industrial, healthcare, churches, education and utility projects. Within each of these fields, our services have included design of new multi-story structures, assessment of existing structures, and repair and strengthening of existing facilities. Our analysis and design competency covers the spectrum of traditional building materials, including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, and modern strengthening technologies such as carbon-fiber and glass-fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP & GFRP).
Cornerstone Engineering’s large number of repeat clients is a testimony to our high level of quality and service. These repeat clients come from a variety of fields and industries and include the LWC, Jefferson County Public Schools, Norton Healthcare, the Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD), as well as other consulting firms with whom we partner.
We are certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) by the Louisville Metro Government and Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD), recognized as a MBE by Louisville Water Company and LG&E and listed as a Minority Vendor with the Kentucky State Finance Cabinet. We also maintain professional affiliations with the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Structural Engineers Association of Kentucky (SEAOK), the Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC), and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). We are also a member of the Kentucky Construction Users Council (KCUC) and Greater Louisville, Inc. (GLI).
