Louisville MSD Central Maintenance Facility Roof Stabilization

Cornerstone performed a Structural Assessment of over 60-year-old gypsum roof decking in Louisville MSD’s Central Maintenance Facility. It was determined that the roof decking had absorbed water, was sagging in some places, and was allowing water to leak through it.

The sagging was such that the decking could collapse between joists. Cornerstone was given a PO by MSD to immediately shore up the weak areas of the decking. The total area amounted to around 3600 sq. ft. Cornerstone immediately mobilized our construction team and shored these areas with double 5/8” thick plywood. This has served well and will continue to prevent the roof from collapsing until the new roof decking and roof replacement is completed. Design for the replacement is ongoing.
